Pilot International Foundation was established in 1975 to support the community-based work of Pilot Clubs by promoting the awareness and prevention of brain-related disorders, and improving the lives of those affected by such disorders, through education, volunteerism, financial support, and research. Each year, the Great Bend Pilot Club supports the efforts of Pilot International through a multitude of activities.
The Great Bend club membership each year chooses among its members one member that exemplifies the attributers of a Pilot. The member chosen as the PI Sweetheart must be active in an assigned role within the club, promote and support the aims of Pilot International and its activities, be active in a project that exemplifies the brain-related service focus of the Pilot International and be faithful in attending meetings and give generously of her time to assist with service projects and fund-raising activities.
The 2013-2014 Great Bend Pilot International Sweetheart is Rhonda Knudson. Rhonda has been an active and passionate member of the Great Bend Pilot club for many years and served as President as well as other officer positions on the local and state level. Special guest speaker, KS-MO Governor Karen Warner, with PI representative Carol Hawk, made the presentation on Tuesday Sept.17, to Rhonda at the Share Pilot event.
The club will make a donation to Pilot International to honor and recognize Rhonda as this year’s Great Bend Pilot International Sweetheart.
