new vlc Ellinwood quilts 2

LARNED — Diann Morell chaired the April 18 meeting of the Larned Quilting Bees guild and opened with a thank you note from Kevin and Leann Simmons for the prayer quilt constructed for Kevin.
Discussion and plans were made for the annual Quilters Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 3 from 9-3 in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church of Larned. The keynote speaker will be Beverly Siefert, owner of the Wichita Sewing Center who is a graduate of Fort Hays State University in interior design.
In addition to the keynote speaker, shorter presentations will be made on quilt topics as well as the usual door prizes, Peddler’s Korner, a give-away table, potluck lunch, breaks and snacks. For information, call the church office at 620-285-6033.
Topics on a specific quilt block were drawn by the members who will do background research on the quilt block and then present the findings at meetings during the next several months.
Merlene Baird presented a short program on Trapunto and displayed a sample of the work. Show and Tell consisted of those involved in the Row by Row project to display the 60 inch row worked on the past month.
Names where then drawn for the next month to be completed by the second meeting in May. The next regular meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 2. Members may come at 5 p.m. to sew. Guests are always welcome as well as beginning quilters.
