On Feb. 9, ten members of the Barton County 4H air rifle program traveled to Offerle for the Edwards County Air Rifle Match. There were a total of 47 competitors representing 12 counties from across Kansas. The Barton County participants brought home nine individual medals and a 2nd place team medal.
In the 11 and under age division, Landen Hammeke from Great Bend placed 8th. Logan Hammeke from Great Bend placed 5th. Will Clark from Great Bend placed 1st.
In the 12 year old division, Parker Smith from Great Bend placed 2nd and Katelyn Reh from Ellinwood placed 1st.
In the 13 year old division, Kyle Clasen from Great Bend placed 3rd.
In the 14 and 15 year old division, Caleb Straub from Great Bend placed 5th. Lake Lyman from Ellinwood placed 4th.  Ryan Kohman from Great Bend placed 2nd.
In the 16 to 18 year old division, Jake Kohman from Great Bend placed 3rd.
The Barton County team was made up of Jake Kohman, Ryan Kohman, Parker Smith and Katelyn Reh.
The kids competed again on Feb. 16 in the Barton County Winter Classic being held at the Expo grounds west of Great Bend.
