On April 12, seven 4H’ers from Barton County, traveled to Alma to compete in the 2014 State 4H Air Rifle Match. There they competed against the best 4H air rifle shooters in the state. To qualify for the match, the 4H’ers had to shoot 400, or higher, out of a possible 600 points, at a qualifying match earlier in the year.
In the 9-13 year old division, Katelyn Reh, from Ellinwood, finished 1st. Parker Smith, from Great Bend, finished 3rd. Will Clark, from Great Bend, finished 5th. Also competing in this division was Dalton Dicks from Great Bend.
In the 14-18 year old division, Ryan Kohman, from Great Bend,  finished 6th. Also competing in this division was Lake Lyman from Ellinwood and Caleb Straub from Great Bend.
The Barton County team was made up of Ryan Kohman, Lake Lyman, Katelyn Reh and Parker Smith. The team finished 3rd in the state.
All the kids shot well, with several shooting their highest match scores of the season.
