Preceptor Pi has program on ‘Women and Shopping’
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Dec. 7 at the home of Janis Link. President Brenda Black led the meeting.
The chapter had received a thank-you note from the Food Bank for the chapter’s $50 Thanksgiving donation, which provided milk and eggs for families in need.
Judy Krebaum gave two Beta Briefs. The first one was an article in the Torch on the passing of Beta Sigma Phi International Chief Executive Officer Jack Ross in April and an article about Legacy Membership, also from the Torch. She also read about the tradition of Beta Sigma Phi programs from the Book of Beta Sigma Phi.
Reta Lucas gave the program on “Women and Shopping.” According to information from an online source, she said, women spend an average of 399 hours and 46 minutes each year shopping. One-fourth of that time is spent grocery shopping; 10% of the time is spent on gifts; 48 hours and 51 minutes are spent window shopping; and the remainder is spent shopping for themselves for clothes, toiletries, etc.
Preceptor Pi Has Festive Christmas Soup Supper
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Dec. 14 at the home of Rosie Luthi the chapter’s traditional Christmas soup supper. Members brought soups, side dishes and desserts for the festive Christmas social. President Brenda Black led the meeting.
The chapter participated in the Great Bend Coffee Company’s Christmas partnership with Sunflower Diversified Services to help special-needs children. The chapter purchased gifts in the amount of $25 each for a girl and a boy, whose names were on the Christmas tree at Great Bend Coffee.
Members decided to bring paper goods such as toilet tissue and facial tissue for the Food Bank in January. The chapter’s Valentine Queen will be chosen by secret ballot at the next meeting.
Chapter members discussed plans for hosting their Sister Chapter for the Jan. 18 meeting. City Council representative Janice Walker reported the next meeting of Beta Sigma Phi City Council will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 20, place to be announced.
Rosie Luthi presented the Christmas program, reading two children’s Christmas stories, “Room for Little One: A Christmas Tale” and “Legend of the Donkey” from a Country Christmas book by Ideals.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 4 at the home of Cindy Meitler, who also will serve as co-hostess and provide the program.
