The Christmas Social for Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was a potato bar on Dec. 16, at the home of Janis Link. Each member brought one dozen cookies for a cookie exchange. Members also brought their donations to Kans for Kids and the Makinna Ann Hope Foundation.
Janis Link presented a program titled “How to Relieve Holiday Stress.” She gave seven suggestions: meditating; chewing gum; kissing a loved one; taking a power nap; laughing off the stress; eating a banana; and turning off the cell phone. Other suggestions from members included walking; drinking wine; and putting God first.
Preceptor Pi’s Dec. 2, meeting took place at the home of Susan Coulson. Brenda Black presented a program titled “Giving Is Great, Giving Smart Is Better.” Taken from a Reader’s Digest article, suggestions included: don’t give outlandish foods; do give no-cook foods such as peanut butter, tuna, spam, crackers; leave food in original packaging; give simple foods (example, cake mixes that require just adding water); label special dietary foods (example, marking an item Gluten Free in large print); make it easy to open; ask what’s needed; find out if the grocery store has bags of food assembled that can be purchased and donated; for a nice touch, donate cookies or a special treat for kids; consider donating cash.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 6, at the home of Janice Walker.
