Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Dec. 18 at the First Christian Church for the chapter’s Holiday Fest. The meal was a catered Mexican dinner.
Linda Jerke read a Beta Brief about the role of cultural programs in the sorority. The programs are basically humanity studies in the area of liberal arts. Each program should consist of a presentation and discussion. Programs permit and encourage each member to grow. They are designed to broaden their knowledge and understanding of themselves, their friends and the world.
Service Chair Judy Krebaum read the list of 62 food items the chapter had donated to the Food Bank ranging from potatoes, to chicken broth, to cake mixes. The chapter’s January service project will be a donation to the local Humane Society. Members decided to pool their money at the next meeting to purchase large bags of cat and dog food for the donation. The Human Society staff also welcomes old blankets and towels.
Jeri Brozek presented the program, reading a Christmas story titled “The Last Christmas Tree.”
Social Chair Lois Johnson announced plans for the chapter’s Sister Chapter Social “Winter Fest” with Laureate Kappa set for Jan. 15. The two chapters will meet at Mom’s Place in Seward for dinner and fellowship.
The chapter’s BSP City Council representative Jeanne Schmitt will be attending the BSP City Council meeting on Jan. 17. The place is to be announced.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Janis Link’s home. Susan Coulson will be co-hostess and Cindy Meitler will present the program.
