The StoneRidge Ladies Golf Association held their year-end event in conjunction with their annual cancer awareness occurrence. The evening began with a three-hole cross-country challenge, followed by their annual balloon launch for cancer. The ladies released 25 pink helium heart-shaped balloons donated by Dee Bleeker, and remembered those lost to cancer, those currently fighting, and those who are survivors of the dreaded disease.
The light breeze was perfect as the balloons all came together. A few were caught in the trees, but magically fought their way to join the others high in the sky.
The installation of new officers followed, and Steve Gotsche held the presentation of the point winner awards on the Straub patio. Door prizes were distributed to all present and Steve surprised everyone with some door prizes of his own.
The evening was completed with a Mexican meal prepared by Kathy Straub, with a “Kans for Kids” cake for dessert provided by Jane Isern and Gail Carpenter. The ladies association collected $635 for “Kans for Kids” from this event, and was presented on Sunday, Oct. 7 to Duane and Debbie Reif of Hoisington by Nancy Carter.
