Doug and Karen Hickel of Claflin announce the engagement of their daughter Samantha Kay Hickel to Matthew William Hafner, son of Rod and Kathy Hafner of Great Bend.
The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Claflin High School. In 2010 she graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel and Textiles. She is employed as a Trust Assistant at National Advisors Trust Company in Overland Park.
The prospective groom is a 2002 graduate of Great Bend High School. In 2004 he graduated from Barton Community College with an associates degree. He is employed as a Locomotive Engineer for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Kansas City.
The wedding is planned for Oct. 18, at Dozier Vineyard and Winery in Ellinwood.
