2018 has been at great year for the Great Bend Public Library. While the rest of the libraries across the country are experiencing a downturn in reading, Great Bend readers checked out 8.28 percent more books than the previous year, for a total of 126,308 books borrowed. We’ve had more people visiting the library than in years past as well, and more people attending library classes, events, and programs.
Look for some exciting changes and updates in 2019. We will be rearranging the adult library to better reflect how library visitors use the library. We are working on a partnership with the League of Women Voters to bring a series of programs and speakers to highlight the 107th anniversary of women’s right to vote in Kansas. The Summer Library Program theme is all about Space. And be sure to look for more information about Hoopla. Hoopla is a streaming digital service that provides ebooks, movies, comics, TV shows and more. Hoopla is a service provided by the Central Kansas Library System and should roll out before March, 2019.
Thank you Great Bend for helping to make your library a great place to get information and entertainment, and an awesome place to visit!
