Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Christmas is just around the corner, so next week things are a bit more mellow at the library. We have our holiday photo op, which will be up in the DVD Section, through Thursday, Dec. 23. If available, staff will be happy to help take your photo. If you are looking for a good photo op be sure to come in next week as that will be your last chance. We will be closed next Friday and Saturday for the Christmas holiday, as well as the Friday and Saturday after for the New Year’s holiday. 

On Tuesday, Dec. 21, we have two events. First, at 4 p.m. we have Tech Tuesday. Do you need help with a smart device or computer? Come see Erin with your tech questions and she will be happy to get you squared away. If you can’t make it to Tech Tuesday but find yourself needing some tech help, feel free to call the library and make an appointment for some one-on-one tech help.

Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. is our last book club of the year! This month’s book is “The Hunting Party” by Lucy Foley. “During Christmas break, a group of friends from Oxford meet to welcome in the New Year together. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands – the perfect place to get away and unwind. Amid the boisterous revelry of New Year’s Eve, the cord holding them together snaps. On New Year’s Day, one of them is dead, and another of them did it.”

An E-book and audiobook version is also available on hoopla, our free app where you can check out books, movies music, and more with no wait. If you don’t already have a hoopla account, see one of our librarians to get signed up. This month’s meeting will also serve as a bit of a holiday party for our book club guests, if you wish you can also bring a book for our annual book exchange and an appetizer to share. 

I would like to wish everyone who is celebrating a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and in the words of John Lennon “Let’s hope it’s a good one”!
