The Larned VFW Auxiliary met on the second Monday of the month with Rita Kurtz presiding. Marcheta Jacobson, acting Chaplain, read the opening prayer and The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Karen Gilkey reported that Rita, Marcheta, and herself attended District 7 Fall Convention in LaCrosse last month.
Rita announced that the Auxiliary received a “Buddy Poppy National Home Award” and another from “Health and Happiness.” A donation was made for Stars and Stripes.
Rita reported that a candy for Veterans Halloween project was completed and that Nancy Barned had donated boxes of food for Fort Dodge. A collection of clothing was gathered for the Larned Orphan Grain Train.
Marcheta talked about the 51 entries received for the County-wide Patriots’ Pen Contest. Winner names will soon be announced at the Middle School.
A noon meal will be provided on Veterans’ Day at the Breakroom.
The next meeting will be held the second Monday in December.
