We are wrapping up our staff introductions at Ellinwood libraries with our two student assistants.

Grace Hoskins is our senior student intern at Ellinwood School/Community Library this year. Grace is the daughter of Mickey and Danielle Hoskins and her siblings are Lily and Shae. She took Career Readiness with the library last year and has helped with Summer Library for the last seven years!

A book Grace would recommend is Sharp Objects because it is a really intense murder mystery with a shocking ending. Her favorite quote is, “It takes all types of people to make the world turn.” Activities Grace is involved in include: Mystics, the Musical, Cheer, Tennis, STUCO, KAY, and National Honor Society. Her favorite class is English because she enjoys reading and diving deeper into what the meaning behind different stories are.

When asked what makes EHS special, Grace replied, “I think that EHS is special because you can be involved in so many different activities. EHS is a small enough school that you can be involved with multiple clubs, do multiple sports, and even do the Musical all at the same time. They do a good job of working around other activities’ schedules so that you don’t have to pick one over the other.” We love having Grace as part of our team!

Madisyn Schlochtermeier is in Career Readiness with Ellinwood School/Community Library. Her family consists of Jason and Heather Schlochtermeier (parents), Ethan Schlochtermeier (younger brother), and the three dogs, Shadow, Dixie, and Saylor. This is Madisyn’s first year of working with the library.

Madisyn’s favorite book of all time is called “Under a Painted Sky” by Stacey Lee. She read this book many years ago when she was in Catholic School, and loved it within the first couple pages. It has such a fun and entertaining storyline. She highly recommends it.

Her favorite quote is, “I’m not perfect, but I’m always myself.”

Madison is involved in a lot at EHS. Her sports are tennis, cheer, and softball; and activities include the musical throughout fall, and is also a member of KAY, NHS, STUCO, and her PSR youth group.

When asked about her favorite class, Madison responded, “I have lots of great classes this year, but I think my favorite would be either Mystic Blues or Chemistry. Mr. Comley is doing a great job at making music fun. We’re learning fast and sounding great! Also, Mystic Blues is first hour and he does a great job at bringing everyone’s energy levels up. Chemistry is also a really great class. I am not the best at science, but Mr. Wittenberg does a great job of both entertaining us and teaching us all at once. I really enjoy his teaching style. He’s probably the best science teacher I’ve had and the only person who can actually teach me science.”

If Madisyn’s plans don’t change, she hopes to go to Wichita State University to pursue a degree in interior design or real estate. Then from there, she is hoping to start her own business and work with some great people!  We are enjoying getting to know Madisyn and appreciate her assistance in helping to meet our students, staff, and patrons library/media requests.
