The incident occurred about 10:33 p.m. in Manchester after an Ariana Grande concert, BBC reported.
So far, three victims have been named, BuzzFeed News reported. Georgina Callander, who attended Runshaw College, was the first victim of the attack to be identified.
Videos shared on Twitter displayed the early moments of the attack. One in particular showed the concert hall in the moments after the explosion.
After the explosion, Joan Grande, the single mother of the pop star, sprung into action, helping lead a number of fans backstage and away from any potential danger, ABC News reported.
Grande, who was on her way backstage to see her daughter, ushered the fans to safety, ABC reported.
Ariana Grande tweeted that she was broken after the incident.
Celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Drake, shared their thoughts and prayers with the victims, USA Today reported.
Drake specifically wrote in an Instagram post that he hopes Grande can find peace of mind after the attack.
My condolences to all of the families affected, and we will be praying for all of Manchester. Also I am praying on peace of mind for Ariana, he wrote.
