Hello from the Great Bend Public Library. We have officially started our Summer Library Progr a.m.. Registration started June 1, but will continue throughout the program. Today, Friday, June 2, we have a special guest for our summer kick off. Thad Beach and his Band in a Bucket will be performing today at 4 p.m.. Thad is well known for his incredible skill with songs and instruments and we want you to join in on the fun. Monday, June 5, there will be Crochet @ the Library at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Tuesday, June 6 there is a Story Time at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. the Teen Department is solving a Murder Mystery. Join Miss Ashley as you listen to witness statements, examine the evidence and figure out who the culprit is. At 3 p.m. there will be a Tech Tuesday Class on How to Snapchat. On Wednesday, June 7, there will be a family event featuring a mad scientist at 2 p.m. On Thursday, June 8, there is another family event at 6 p.m., but this is about Ancestry. People are encouraged to bring their old pictures and a USB Drive so that they can scan and digitize those pictures and not be afraid of future wear and tear.
On Friday, there will be crochet at 2 p.m.. The Crochet Club has started making infant hats again for the Kansas Children’s Service League. We have kits available for a suggested donation of $5. Those kits include 1 skein of yarn, 1 crochet hook, and multiple free patterns. There are also kits available for knitters. They include 1 skein of yarn, 1 pair of needles, and multiple free patterns. There are free patterns for those of you who don’t need a kit.
We are pretty excited to announce a change in one of our check out policies. As of June 1, anyone with a library card, no matter their age, is now allowed to check out five DVDs at a time.
