ent lgp towerwindquintetpic

The Tower Wind Quintet will present a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 17, at the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg. The Quintet, formed in 2001, is comprised of Friends University faculty members: Amy Hoffman, flute; Cindy Thompson, oboe; Rachelle Goter, clarinet; Denise Kintzel, french horn, and Kimme Whittemore, bassoon. All members are active performers and teachers in the Wichita area, participating in many groups including the Wichita Symphony, Wichita Grand Opera, Wichita Music Theatre, and Ballet Wichita.
The quintet gives annual recitals, performs frequently at KMEA conventions, commissions new works, gives recitals and masterclasses in schools across the state, and performs at community events.
Since the quintet’s inception, they have enjoyed collaborating with other disciplines. For example, they have performed with the Friends University Ballet Department; Charles Parker (drama); Dr. James Knight (piano); composers Dan Racer, Miriam Overholt, and Randy Zellers; Ann Krone (art department); the Friends University Concert Band; and the Friends University Singing Quakers.
All are invited to enjoy the performance at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery, 401 North First Street in Lindsborg. There is no charge for admission, however, donations are welcomed. For further information, call the Gallery at 785-227-2220 or email: fineart@sandzen.org.
