The family of Mitzi Slack of Pretty Prairie is requesting a card shower in honor of her 80th birthday on Thursday, July 1, 2021.  

Mitzi was born in Wellington in 1941. She attended Wellington Schools and graduated high school in 1959. Mitzi studied at Arkansas City Junior College. She married Neal Slack and moved to Emporia, where she worked at Hallmark Cards and Raney Drug Store.

Mitzi then became a stay-at-home mother for her daughter Kelli while living in Great Bend. She then moved to Plains where she had her son Darin and ran a daycare for Plains’ teachers. In 1971, Mitzi and Neal moved to Kingman where she became bookkeeper for Augden-Kostner John Deere. She worked there for 32 years until her retirement in 2005.

Her family includes her husband Neal of 59 years. They will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on July 14. Their children are Kelli (John) Thissen of Herington and Darin (Lori) Slack of Oakley; grandchildren, Chelsi (Mitch) Myer, Camron (Karenah) Thissen, Emma (July) Jost, Estin Slack, Ellis Slack; great-grandchildren, Serenity Myer, Melody Myer, Jamie Myer, Damien Myer, Nikolai Myer, Carter Thissen, and Cora Thissen.
