Dylan Riordan

Dylan Riordan, son of Frank and Danette Riordan, of Anacortes, Wash., and grandson of Alvin and Elaine Urban of Loretto, recently completed four years of rigorous academic and physical training by graduating on May 26, with a bachelor’s degree in general science from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. At this ceremony he was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy.
Vice President Mike Pence was the keynote speaker.
The United States Naval Academy is a prestigious four-year service academy that prepares midshipmen morally, mentally and physically to be officers in the navy or marines. The brigade of midshipmen is comprised of over 4,000 students from every state in the union.
Immediately following his commissioning, Ensign Riordan’s traditional first salute was given to him by his sister, Midshipman 2/C Brooke Riordan, who recently finished her sophomore year as a Navy ROTC student at Vanderbilt University and nursing student at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.
Riordan was selected as a Navy pilot and has begun flight school in Pensacola, Fla. After flight school, he will continue his service as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
