NSDAR members about Vietnam Veteran’s Day

The Fort Larned Chapter of the NSDAR met March 10 at Sweets n Eats in Larned. 

Sherry Webster shared a article on valiant women of the vote.

Brenda Van Meter read an article about Vietnam Veterans Day from the Cyber Sunflower monthly publication by the KSDAR.

“In 2017, a Presidential Executive Order created Vietnam Veterans Day to be celebrated on March 29th each year. There were 9,087,000 military personnel that served in active duty during the Vietnam era (Aug. 5, 1964 to May 7, 1975) and 2,709,918 men and women served in Vietnam. There we 58,000 killed during this war. Let’s not forget those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Our vietnam veteran’s deserve our thanks!”

Hostess Kathleen Foster’s program was on her family’s genealogy and how they came to Kansas in a covered wagon.

The Fort Larned Chapter NSDAR meets monthly September through June on the 2nd Tuesday at 2 p.m. in The Jordaan Library. The chapter includes Barton, Pawnee and Edwards counties.

The next meeting will be April 14 All are welcome to attend. This date may change with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
