Quilting Bees prepare for Christmas

LARNED — Members of the Quilting Bees guild met on Nov. 20 at the First Presbyterian Church in Larned.  Announcements included the KSU Extension at Larned was taking orders for scissors and Cottonwood Quilts was closing after the end of December.  

Diann Morell demonstrated appliqué using the pressing sheet designed for the procedure. Show and Tell participants were: Diann Morell, two rulers-one for set in triangles and one for quarter-inch measuring; Colleen Wolf, house ruler and blocks from Bossy Sister project; Ann Hicks, Dresden Plate ruler and blocks for Bossy Sister’s project; Becky Obermiller, quilt top from “She Came From Kansas” project and Bossy Sister blocks; Karen Hadley, baby quilt with South African theme; Merlene Baird, Santa wall hanging and two table runners; Mary Weber, prayer quilt for Opal Macy’s sister-in-law.

The annual Christmas party will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 4, at the church. An optional gift exchange will be included in the evening’s activities following snacks.
