Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library!

Next week for Children’s events, join us for Early Literacy Story Time as usual on Tuesday, September 21, at 10:30 a.m., recommended for little listeners ages 5 and under. Children from infants to school age are welcome at Family Story Time on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Also on Thursday at 6:30, children in grades 3-5 are invited to our Banned Books Bash. Celebrate your right to read with some book tastings, button making, games, and more! Registration is required for this event, so visit the Children’s Activities section of our website to reserve your child’s spot by next Tuesday.

For teens grades 6-12, we will have our first Teen Tuesday event of the semester. Come to the Teen Spot to hang out and have fun with other teens doing crafts, games, and more! Registration for this event is required, so use the code @gbteentues on remind.com or in the Remind app to reserve your spot for Tuesday, September 21, at 4 p.m. That following Thursday, join us in the Teen Spot at 6 p.m. for our first monthly Teen Anime Watch Party, where we’ll kick back with some popcorn and watch as many episodes of anime as we can fit in an hour and a half! What we watch will be determined by popular vote.

For adults, we have Tech Tuesday at 4 p.m. Anyone needing some tech help can bring in their device and get some one-on-one help from our reference librarian. Later that evening at 7 p.m., our Open Book Club is meeting to discuss September’s title, “Mexican Gothic” by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. “After receiving a frantic letter from her newly-wed cousin begging for someone to save her from a mysterious doom, Noemí Taboada heads to High Place, a distant house in the Mexican countryside.” If you’re a fast reader who enjoys dark historical fiction, we still have copies of this book available for pickup at the front desk.

Be sure to come in and grab a fall newsletter and keep an eye on our Facebook and our website, greatbendpl.info, for updates on these and other upcoming programs. You can also message us on Facebook or email us at gbcirc@gmail.com. We can also be reached via phone at 620-792-2409.
