Sandzén Gallery chamber music concert features pianist Slawomir Dobrzanski

LINDSBORG — Pianist Slawomir Dobrzanski will perform selections by Mozart, Beethoven, and other composers at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery, 401 North First Street in Lindsborg, at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10. The concert is a part of the Sandzén Gallery’s 2019-20 chamber music series.

A versatile pianist with a broad repertoire, Slawomir Dobrzanski frequently performs as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, South America, Asia, and throughout the United States. He has released several world-premiere recordings of piano music by Maria Szymanowska (1789-1831) and Anton de Kontski (1816-1899). He is also an author of the first biography of Maria Szymanowska in the English language and, in 2017, was honored with the title “Meritorious for National Culture” by the Polish government.

Dobrzanski currently serves as a professor of music at the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Kansas State University. He is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland, and the University of Connecticut. His major teachers include Regina Smendzianka and Neal Larrabee.
