Amy Ferguson will talk about the Rise Up! program at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Great Bend Public Library, 1409 Williams St.

Ferguson is the resource coordinator for the Barton County Health Department and coordinator of Rise Up Central Kansas. The public is invited to learn about the program aimed at creating communication tools accessible to all community members through building trauma-informed advocacy, connecting the people in central Kansas to needed services, and promoting the importance of positive human connections. By creating these community connections, Rise Up! hopes to shift the mindset of central Kansas to a trauma-aware society, while helping bring kindness to our community, sponsors said.

This program is part of the library’s Third Thursday speaker series.
