Wilda Whala Merten will celebrate her 90th birthday on Feb. 7.

Wilda was born on Feb. 7, 1932, in Seminole, Okla. She graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1950. On Feb. 23, 1957 she married Jack L. Merten. They have two children, Lahree and Ken Jenkins of Comanche, Okla., and Michael and Pam Merten of Great Bend; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her work experience included secretary for attorneys in Great Bend and Oklahoma City. She retired from the Feldt Law Office in 1997 and went into business as Cottonwood Yarn and Needlecrafts. She taught crochet and knitting for the Great Bend Recreation Center.
