Interim Great Bend City Administrator George Kolb announced Thursday afternoon the appointment of Bob Robinson as acting captain for the Great Bend Police Department, effective this coming Monday.
Robinson had served in the Great Bend Police Department from 1978 to his retirement in June of 2016. Twenty-nine of those years he served as captain of the Police Department having risen through the ranks from police officer.
“Based on Bob’s years of service and familiarity, Robinson brings both leadership and experience to the department,” Kolb said. “Robinson is respected by the current staff and he will be an admirable fit for this temporary position until a new chief can be appointed.”
Kolb announced Monday at the City Council Meeting that an acting captain would be appointed sometime during the week to help with complex administrative, supervisory and professional work in planning, coordinating and directing the activities of the Police Department. Progress is still moving forward in the hiring process of a new Great Bend Police Chief.
The Captain’s position will be filled by Robinson until a new captain can be chosen by the new chief.
