Advent retreat offered at Heartland
Advent art

An Advent retreat, “Bridges of Welcoming Jesus,” will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, at the Heartland Center for Spirituality, 3600 Broadway Ave. It will be presented by Francine Schwanzenberger, OP.

Advent will begin on Dec. 1 and end on Dec. 24. We pause in this time of preparation to notice how God comes to us each day, to commit ourselves to awareness and gratitude.

Fees are $50 for the retreat day, which includes lunch; $15 for a 20-minute Spiritual Direction; and $25 for a 30-minute massage. If you would like to extend your retreat, feel free to stay overnight on Friday or Saturday. Sunday schedule includes brunch at 9 a.m., sung morning prayer at 10 and Mass at 10:30.

Get in the mood on Friday night, Dec. 6, and come to the showing of “Millions” at 6:15 p.m. In this 2004 motion picture, ethics, being human and the soul come to the fore when a 7-year-old boy finds a bag of Pounds just days before the currency is switched to Euros and learns what we are really made of. A freewill offering will be accepted to offset the cost of refreshments.
