Auditions for the first show in Great Bend Community Theatre’s 2010-2011 season will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday at the Crest Theater, 1905 Lakin Ave., said K.B. Bell, GBCT publicity chairman.

"Rounding Third," a comedy by Richard Dresser, will be performed Nov. 18-21.

There are roles for two men, ages 30 to 50 years old, Bell said, adding the age requirements are somewhat flexible.

"Rounding Third" is a comedy about the journey of two Little League coaches through an entire season — from their first tentative meeting to the climactic championship game. Don is the rough, blue-collar, win-at-all-costs veteran coach whose son is the star pitcher. Michael is a newcomer, both to the town and to baseball. He’s a corporate executive who agrees to be Don’s assistant because he wants a special activity with his son, who’s never played baseball before. Despite their differences, Michael and Don form an uneasy alliance for the benefit of the team.

No advance preparation is necessary for the audition session. To check out a reading copy of the script, or for more information, contact the director, Susan Mills at Susan.Mills@lsh.ks.gov, or GBCT at gbct.crest@gmail.com.
