Command Spanish for the Community, a course offered by Barton Community College, will provide a quick and easy way to learn limited amounts of everyday Spanish.

The class will meet from 6 -9 p.m. on Mondays, Oct. 11 through Nov. 8, in Barton’s Science and Math Building, S-151. Instructor is Mercedes Helms. Pre-registration is required. The fee of $115 includes the textbook and one college credit.

The course consists of three components: Speaking in Spanish — how to say practical common phrases in Spanish; Listening in Spanish — how to comprehend basic and common phrases used in everyday Spanish corresponding with the Speaking in Spanish component; Cross-Cultural Issues — including some of the most fundamental and generic, non-nationality-specific aspects of Latino culture that may be misunderstood by non-Latinos.
