Barton Community College, with the help of Command Spanish Inc., is working to bridge the communication gap between English- and Spanish-speaking individuals with a month of workshops titled Command Spanish for the Community.

The classes are set for 6-9:15 p.m. every Thursday in October in T-146, in the BCC Technical Building.

The courses will focus on three main components:

• Speaking in Spanish: Learn how to say practical common phrases in Spanish.

• Listening in Spanish: Learn to comprehend basic and common phrases used in everyday Spanish that correspond with the Speaking in Spanish component.

• Cross-Cultural Issues: Learn some of the most fundamental and generic, non-national specific aspects of Latino culture that may be misunderstood by non-Latinos.

Cost is $84 for Barton County residents and $87 for non-residents, which includes the tuition, fees and textbook.

To enroll, contact the BCC Workforce Training and Community Education Department at (866) 813-2462, or by e-mail at training@bartonccc.edu.
