Great Bend firefighters were dispatched to the Robert Wiley home 2403 31st St. at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday for a house fire.
Chief Mike Napolitano said the first unit to arrive reported smoke and flames coming from the house but was able to get the fire under control quickly.
“There was fire damage in the living room/dining room area and heavy smoke and heat damage throughout the home,” Napolitano said. All occupants were out of the house at the time of the fire.
“The fire started in the living room, in the area of the couch seat cushion. At this point the fire is ruled undetermined; however, it is believed to be accidental causes.”
The GBFD was assisted by the Great police department, water department and the Kansas State fire Marshal’s Office. Damage is in excess of $50,000.
