The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host a free program, “Cooking With Herbs and Spices,” from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. This program will also be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave.
Program Director Garet Fitzpatrick said this GBRC Stop ‘N Learn was offered in 2011 and is back by popular demand. This time presenter, Barton County Extension Agent Donna Krug, will take the program a step further, he said.
“Participants in this class will learn what spices and herbs compliment certain meat or grain dishes. You will have a chance to sample certain spice flavors, and if there is interest we will organize a “seasoning swap” where jars of seasoning may be exchanged for others," Krug said.
