A Great Bend man was allegedly battered by four other people, Saturday night or early Sunday at the Kwik Shop at 24th and Main. The Great Bend Police Department is investigating after viewing a surveillance video of the altercation.
Two officials from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the BCSO Reserves and a Kansas Highway Patrol officer all went to the convenience store around 2:05 a.m. Sunday, but the GBPD eventually took the battery case, assigning a case number around 11 p.m.
BCSO and GBPD logs show the man had contacted officers numerous times over the weekend, for various reasons. On Friday, he wanted to know why officers had been in his neighborhood.
At 12:24 a.m. Sunday, he reported an unknown person had broken the back door to the residence at 2011 29th St.
He also had questions about a property dispute with a relative. Police advised him that is a civil matter, and suggested he consult with an attorney. Another individual at the house called with similar questions and was given the same advice.
