Bob Parrish will present "Great Bend - The First Hundred Years. Fiction and Facts from Bob’s Almanac," during the Barton County Historical Society meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Robert "Bob" Parrish was educated in Great Bend, graduating from the local high school. He is a veteran of World War II. After graduating from the University of Kansas, he returned home to enter in business. He owned and operated Parrish Motor Company for 40 years. Parrish has continued to be interested and involved in civic affairs, including serving as mayor from 1969-76.

Many listeners still enjoy "Pages In Time," the popular radio programs recorded by the late Ray "Jiggs" Schulz and Parrish several years ago. The two historians recorded over 100 30-minute programs on a variety of subjects. Monday’s program will explore further interesting facts or fictions about this area.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the main museum building just south of the Arkansas River Bridge on U.S. 281.
