The Barton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rape that allegedly occurred over the weekend in a vehicle outside the bar at 206 North U.S. 281, north of Great Bend.
A Great Bend man was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail, where he remains pending bail. As of Wednesday afternoon, no formal charges have been filed by the Barton County Attorney’s Office.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office received the report around 3:16 a.m. Saturday, after the woman had left the bar. She went to a residence and told someone what had happened. Reports show the woman, who is 19 or 20 years old, met the suspect at the bar and did not previously know him. When they left, she said she tried to stop the reported assault.
Officers found the vehicle and later arrested the suspect at a residence.
