Water safety instruction training course offered

The American Red Cross and Great Bend Recreation Commission are offering a Water Safety Instructor Training course.

Classes meet from 6-10 p.m. May 31, and June 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9, at the Barton Community College Pool, and from 8:30-11:30 a.m. June 3, 4, and 10 at the Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. Prerequisites for this course are: Minimum age of 16, able to complete the pre-course skills consisting of front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary back stroke, and sidestroke, be able to float on your back in deep water for one minute and tread water for one minute. This course will provide the tools and information needed to plan and properly teach swimming lessons in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program.
