Wilson Czech Festival starts Friday

WILSON — Several thousand people will make their annual trip to Wilson Friday and Saturday for the 51st annual Wilson After Harvest Czech Festival.
Wilson’s parade “A Slice of Heaven in 2011” will start at 10 a.m.  Saturday. The parade grand marshals are the Wilson Czech Dancers.
The annual state meeting of Kansas Czech starts at 3 p.m. Friday at the Wilson Senior Center. A 4 p.m. arts and crafts show is scheduled. The beer garden opens at 5 p.m. and music will be played by the Dave Salmons Band.
A Wii tournament, horseshoe pitching, polka party, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, dancing, Wilson City Band concert, ice cream social, barrel rides for kids, carnival rides, mechanical bull rides and fireworks are planned.
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will attend the legislative coffee at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the senior center.
The itinerary is jam-packed with events that continue until late Saturday night. Schedules are available at any business in Wilson, City Hall, or the chamber visitor center.
