Great Bend police officers were notified Thursday of a disturbance at the 2700 block of 10th St. After arriving on scene officers located several individuals reporting a male suspect displaying bizarre behavior and attempting to force a female into his maroon Chevy Lumina near the intersection of 10th and Jefferson.
The 25-year-old male, Jonathon D. Hertel, was located on scene in his maroon Chevy. He was detained at that time. Interviews were given on site and video footage regarding the incident was obtained.
Hertel was arrested on charges of attempted kidnapping, criminal threat, battery, and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Hertel was booked at the Barton County Jail in lieu of bond. Great Bend Police Department Drug Recognition Expert responded to the incident and determined that Hertel was impaired.
