Nature Discover Camps at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center are fast approaching, when kids explore Cheyenne Bottoms’ animals and plants and participate in outdoor activities. The registration deadline is Monday, June 26, so call 877-243-9268 soon, as there are only a limited number of spaces still open.

There is a $20 fee that covers materials and snacks.

This year, for Discovery Camp II, campers will participate in an archery session, following the National Archery in the Schools program. Campers will learn how to capture birds for studies, using mist nets. They’ll explore camouflage, learn to “see” animal activities, make sun catchers and decorate their own nature T-shirts, and participate in many more activities. Mornings are generally outdoor time to beat the heat, followed by indoor crafts and activities during the afternoon.

Discovery Camp I for first-third grades takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11 and 13, (children must have completed first through third grades). Discovery Camp II, fourth-sixth grades, takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18 and 20, (children must have completed fourth through sixth grades).
