Center for Spirituality to show movie based on Mr. Rogers

On Tuesday Feb. 15, the movie “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” will be showing at the Heartland Center for Spirituality for the winter series of “Movies with a Message.”  

Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in this timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Lloyd Vogel. After a jaded magazine writer is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about kindness, love and forgiveness from America’s most beloved neighbor.

The movie begins at 6:15 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace,3600 Broadway Ave. Other movies in the series include: “Life for Life: Maximilian Kolbe” (Friday, March 11), “The Soloist” (Tuesday, April 12) and “Secretariat” (Tuesday, May 17).

A freewill offering will be accepted to offset the cost of refreshments.  

Guests must be vaccinated to attend; masks are appreciated.
