Ellinwood School/Community Library is sponsoring the first StoryWalk® during Ellinwood’s Chamber’s Christkindlmarket, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. StoryWalk® is a fun, educational activity that places a children’s story outside to allow people of all ages to combine physical activity while reading a book. Conceived as a way to inspire parents, teachers, and caregivers to take young children outside for physical activity and to learn, StoryWalk® helps build children’s interest in reading while encouraging healthy activity for both adults and children. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. We have chosen, “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clarke Moore, to share with our community. The “walk” will begin at the library, and continue through the following businesses: City of Ellinwood Office, Brick Street Garage, American Family Insurance, Educational Strategies, Kimple Flooring and Gifts, Cutting Edge Salon, Farmer’s Mutual Insurance, Jensen’s Associates, Inc., Roth Law Office, Sauer Chiropractic and Sports, Draney Antiques, Ellinwood Emporium, Sunflower Bank, Gather (former Fire Escape), Will and Alicia Straub, National Billing, LLC, Gunn Antique, Gifts of the Garden, and end at the library. Prizes will be awarded to the first 70 youth participants.
