Cheyenne Bottoms Crane Viewing Tour offered
Placeholder Image

The Kansas Wetlands Education Center staff will lead a guides tour through Cheyenne Bottoms starting at 5:30 Tuesday, Oct. 28. Tours will begin and end at the KWEC, 592 NE K-156, Great Bend. From there, participants will board the KWEC van for a tour to find groups of cranes in the Cheyenne Bottoms area.
Participants are invited to witness one of autumn’s spectacular journeys – the sandhill and whooping crane migration. The sight and sound of tens of thousands of cranes coming into the marsh to roost overnight is an unforgettable experience. There is also the chance whooping cranes, one of the rarest and most striking of North American birds, may be present.
Van seats are limited, so preregistration is required.  Some car pooling might be available if all the van spots fill.  To reserve a seat or for more information, call KWEC at 877-243-9268. In the event of bad weather or a lack of cranes, tour participants will be notified of cancelation.
