The City of Great Bend will burn the tree pile at the composite site this week. Work started Monday and could last up to a week as city officials take advantage of the current conditions, Street Superintendent James Giles said.

The burn area will be monitored by city staff 24 hours a day.

The city appreciates the patience of the public while this work is performed, Giles said. It is likely if the wind is from the right direction that one might smell or see the smoke.
