Community invited to social cyber safety program

Recently students at Great Bend Middle School have heard from Detective Heather Smith of the Great Bend Police Department about the dangers of cyber communication and its life-long impacts. Now USD 428 wants parents and community members to know how they can help protect their children and teens from the pressures that are associated with cell phone and Internet use.
Det. Smith will present to parents and community members at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Great Bend High School Auditorium. The program is expected to last about an hour.
Parents will hear about “Avoiding the Risks,” “What is inappropriate content for people under the age of 18?” and “How to protect your child from digital dangers.
