County budget hearing will follow vote canvass

The Barton County Commission will meet as the Board of County Canvassers at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the County Clerk’s Office. At that time, they will canvass the primary election ballots.

A public budget hearing will start at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners’ meeting room at the courthouse. It may be viewed online through Microsoft Teams at https://bit.ly/3V642di.

Other items on the agenda are adoption of the 2025 Barton County operating budget, adoption of the 2025 list of all county employment positions, discussion of capital improvement and equipment replacement plans, and approval of the 2025 service agreement with Southwest Developmental Services Inc. as the Community Developmental Disability Organization for the County.

Jami Benyshek, senior audit manager with AdamsBrown, will present the 2023 audit report. The commissioners will also consider bids for widening an existing Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) bridge on NE 190 Road, 1.15 miles east of Beaver, and they will be asked to purchase a truck to replace a 1995 Ford F250 XL at the Noxious Weed Department.

10:15 a.m. - Informational Update – National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor – Patrick Hoffman, County Counselor.

10:45 a.m. - Program Update – Veronica Coons, Barton County Conservation District Manager. 

11 a.m. - ROZ Financial Support – Jason R. Murray, Executive Director, Golden Belt Community Foundation.

11:15 a.m. - Regular Business Discussion – Matt Patzner, County Administrator. 

Noon - Departmental Visit with Health Department Director Karen Winkelman and the Health Department staff.
