County Commission discusses byway; City Council plans study sessions


The Barton County Commission will meet Tuesday morning and the Great Bend City Council will meet Tuesday evening.

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes a report on the  Kansas Wetlands Education Center and Wetlands & Wildlife National Scenic Byway, a county valuation update and the resurfacing of Susank Road.

The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the City Office, 1209 Williams. The agenda includes the resignation of Ward 1 Councilwoman Jessica Milsap, an amendment to the Great Bend Municipal Airport runway contract and the engineering-design contract for the Sunflower Rod and Custom Association dragship. 

Following the meeting, the council will hold two study sessions, one for the city’s education scholarship agreement and the other for building codes.
