Six scholarships were awarded at $1,000 per year for four years. API offered two special scholarships this year to students majoring in either Geology or Engineering. API is trying to retain some students to graduate and work in the industry. The winners of these two scholarships were Anthony Cannata and Jonathan Schotte. These recipients were not required for one of their parents to be employed in the oil or gas industry.
The other recipients were required to have one of their parents employed in the oil or gas industry and they could major in any field that they wanted. The two sisters, Ashlie and Emilie Thill, will share one scholarship and each will receive $500 per year for four years.
The Western Kansas Chapter of API will have 24 students on scholarship in three more years. These are provided by sponsorships to our annual golf tournament held each year in September.
