Last Thursday, March 2, was Read Across America Day, the National Education Association’s annual celebration of reading.
This reading motivation and awareness program calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. Great Bend Middle School students took advantage of Read Across America day by spending time with their preschool Panther Pals and other Headstart classes, sharing the wisdom of Dr. Seuss. Nationwide, NEA expected more than 45 million readers, both young and old, to pick up a book and read.
