Earlier this month, Coutto, a 21-year-old student from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was photographed comforting a special needs man on a bus.
Coutto said he originally thought the special needs man wanted a simple handshake. But after the man didnt release his grip, Coutto realized that the man wanted to be comforted and may have been scared of other people on the bus, according to ABC News.
I had to be selfless in that situation, Coutto told ABC News. He seemed like a happy guy, so I didnt want to let him down.
The photo was published on the Only in Hamilton Facebook page, garnering more than 65,000 Likes.
Coutto doesnt feel his actions were heroic, despite the praise he received.
"I feel thrilled people are recognizing that I did such a good thing, but it's not about the recognition, Coutto told ABC News. I don't think I'm a role model or hero, I just hope that I've inspired people to do the same thing."
