EDWARDS COUNTY — Kansas Highway Patrol reports a fatality accident that occurred at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 50 at 80th Ave. in Edwards County, 1 mile west of Kinsley.
A 2006 PT Cruiser driven by Sandra Kay Kerns, 70, of Kinsley, was northbound on 80th Ave. and failed to yield at U.S. 50. The car was hit by an eastbound Toyota Avalon on the driver’s side. Kerns, who was taken to Edwards County Hospital, died as a result of the collision.
The driver of the Toyota, 38-year-old Todd Robert Sullivant of Hutchinson, was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing safety restraints. The vehicles were removed by Midway Auto Body.
