United States Navy veteran Daniel Finnegan was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on January 28, 2022, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend, Kansas. Finnegan, who is now the mayor of Ellsworth, served from 1984 to 1988.

The quilt top was made by Eileen Huslig; quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor. Pictured are, from left: Rick Munsch, Finnegan, Mellor and Boe Levingston.

Seven quilts were presented on Jan. 28. The Great Bend Tribune publishes photos with information with the approval of the veterans.
